Diane Ponder, http://dianeponder.com/ , A Board Member of The Convergence Project Inc., holds an opening for her paintings at Solay Wellness, an eco-friendly and fair trade Himalayan salt purveyor.
The event will be Friday, April 13, 2012 5pm-9pm. Refreshments, music and events in the Salt Room are included. Salt products and a variety of wellness products will be for sale, demonstrated in their shop and workshops conducted in their salt room, a healing space. This is specially fitting since some of the paintings will include Himalayan salts. They are known for their healthful properties.
Diane’s paints are non toxic and the linen and stretchers are sustainable and recyclable. The paintings also are energy filled and layered to allow for a meditative state.
Diane Ponder, curator of Mimi’s Organic Exchange and an artist in her own right, is going to be featured at Hyde Park Art Center in the fall. Large scale pieces as large as 8 feet by 3, they are consciously created with renewable, low voc and long lived materials that can be reused. She has curated several shows on environmental themes since 1999, most recently at the Ravenswood Art Walk during and as a part of Chicago Artists’ Month. Her work has been displayed nationally and internationally, in museums and private collections.
2012 Chicago Creative Expo
Now in its 9th year, the Creative Chicago Expo is a chance for arts organizations and artists of all disciplines to connect, exchange information, and share best practices. In the past, more than 5,000 creative practitioners and 140 local and national vendors participated in dozens of consulting sessions and free workshops, and networked across Chicago’s diverse arts communities.
In 2012, The Expo is expanding to two days. Friday, March 23rd will focus on information for arts organizations and creative businesses. Saturday, March 24th will focus on the needs of individual creatives. Some of the information on each day is useful to both artists and organizations, therefore we encourage you to attend both days. Admission is free and open to the public.
